The raising of livestock, particularly of sheep, is still the main
activity in the "estancias" (ranches) of Peninsula Valdes.
A sheep whose mother has died is called a "guachito" by local
people, and it is raised as a pet. Lucas is a guachito that lives at the Punta Delgada
hotel and loved to eat Ludmilas flowers.
There is no better way to learn to respect and love our wildlife than by
living in it. Ludmila could watch closely lots of elephant seals that were lying quietly
on the beach in Punta Delgada. She didnt even raise her voice to avoid disrupting
their peaceful rest.
Every year Peninsula Valdes, a paradise for nature lovers, draws millions
of sea birds and marine mammals to its shores. Miles of unspoiled beaches are the perfect
setting for a family outing.
